Everyone at Leisure Leagues sends our best wishes to Boro Rangers U-7s, who are seen here celebrating after their latest matches.
The boys and girls are coached by a dedicated team of volunteers that includes former Middlesbrough, England, Real Madrid and Leeds player Jonathan Woodgate, at Middlesbrough Sports Village – where Leisure Leagues is proud to run a league on a Monday night.
League Manager Greg Allen admitted he could see the parallels between the community team and the adult league. “Although our leagues are for 16 and over, in many ways what we do is similar. Both Boro and us are at the centre of the community and that is a testament to the both the wonderful facilities at the Sports Village but perhaps, too, to the power of football,” he said.
Greg did say that he was sorry the U-7s couldn’t play and added: “in a few years we look forward to welcoming them, but for now maybe their mums and dads would like a game on a Monday night!”
More information on the Monday night league at Sports Village can be found here, while Leisure Leagues are delighted to be bringing another competition to the area.
The brand new league at Acklam Green Sports Centre kicks off on 7th January, as people look to get fit for the New Year. All the information on the Teesside based community league is available here.
