“It’s what community is all about!” Those words were music to our ears this week as we delivered the first Leisure Leagues MVP Prize draw winner his prize.
Gaz Hannaby – pictured above with is team Here For A Beer, in the Maltby Monday League – won the replica shirt of his choice in the live draw, and not even the awful wet weather could dampen his spirits as he received the Dortmund kit he picked.
A delighted Gaz was keen to praise the competition, and enthused: ‘It gets everyone together, playing football – it’s what community is all about.”
The new season in the Maltby Monday league is only three games in, but Here For A Beer might be in for the winner’s prize at the end of the season, as they are top with maximum points after three games gone.
For Gaz, though, it truly isn’t about results, as he explained: “You get all together, everyone plays football and enjoys it. It’s a good setup, everyone knows what they’re doing, the pitch is mint. It’s lovely, great set up!”
He was presented with his prize by Andy Gascoigne, our Elite Training Manager for the area, and Andy was quick to suggest that others should follow Gaz’s lead and get in the draw: “‘I would say to any player – get yourselves registered, so that you’re in the prize draw for all the prizes that Leisure Leagues are offering’
Thousands our players around the world were glued to Facebook as the first ever Leisure Leagues Prize Draw took place.
Separate draws for Player Of The Season, runners up, winners and wooden spoon will next be done on 1st May and will take place on the first Tuesday of every month, with the top prize – courtesy of Uhlsport – being a holiday for 6 to Germany to take in a Bundesliga game.
