The brand new Kidderminster 5 a side league kicked off last night, and did so with one of the more astonishing results in the history of Leisure Leagues.
Lads On Toure sit top of the table, but that barely does what happened justice. The Lads whacked in a quite astonishing 23 goals against Kroos Control (who at least did manage two of their own in reply).
On any other night, perhaps, the headlines might have been made by Last Orders, who’s 8-3 cruise over Prolific FC would usually have been enough to put them top – but this was anything but a usual week, although James Jones did put down a marker for the MVP award, with his match winning performance.
Other notable victors were Bevraginos, who saw off Soccer PM 7-3, but there was a thrilling 11 goal ding-dong between Norfolk N Chance and Taking The Mikoutaryan, which Norfolk just edged 6-5.
The losers in that game will soon have a chance to avenge the loss – but on paper it looks a tall order, as they become the latest team to try and stop the Lads On Toure juggernaut.
There is still one space for teams to join in the Kidderminster Thursday competition, and as Area Manager Adam Glover explained, it offers a real choice for teams in the area: “It is great to offer our first ever 5 a side league in the area,” Adam said: “our other leagues in the area are 6 a side competitions, so it’s fantastic to offer this alternative.”
