NO TEAM? NO PROBLEM!

Ever since we started Leisure Leagues well over thirty years ago, inclusion has been at the heart of all we do – now that is going up a notch with hundreds of single players signing up and joining the Leisure Leagues family.

We announced the initiative last year, as single player sign up’s came on stream, with the aim of helping people become active, as Area Manager Adam Glover explained: “We were very proud to have so many teams around the world playing, but we were excluding people from the enjoyment of 6 a side football.”

Those people were those that haven’t got enough mates for a full team, with Adam saying: “Maybe they’ve just moved to an area, maybe they are a bit older and don’t have the friendship circle to gather together a full side. Those players have been excluded too long!”

Single players are at the heart of everything Leisure Leagues do in 2023 and hundreds of them have signed up throughout the country and are being put into either existing teams or entirely new teams made up of people that didn’t know each other before. It has many benefits, as Adam underlined: “The chance to make new friends, get vital fitness, and mental health boosts, we are offering all that and more to people. That is a truly wonderful thing, and the fact we can do that for people is brilliant and everything we are about!”

Now the teams have started winning their first games, they can taste success too. “Although its not about results,” admitted Adam, “there are some fantastic players around, and it won’t be long before we see some of the new teams on the winners Prize Draw.”

However it is not about that at all, as Adam concluded: “We just to give people the experience of playing sport in their communities, whatever their ability. As we always say: no team, no problem!
