The brand new season in the best community 6 a side football league in Larne kicked off last night, and it was The North Of Larne who put down an early marker.
Their 7-2 thrashing of Hale Stones was perhaps the pick of the games, but there was plenty of superb football elsewhere too.
BT40’S are second, after drinking in a 5-0 thumping of AFC Winebar, while elsewhere there were a pair of 3-2 victories as Bring It Home and Barcalarna,
Area Manager Greg Allen admitted he was delighted with the kick off and added: “It’s great to see these teams in the Leisure Leagues family, and this is just the start. This league will going from strength to strength in the coming weeks.”
Greg added that he was expecting to add another new division soon and thanked everyone at Inver Park for their help: “We view it very much as a partnership,” said Greg. “That’s very much been the case here and things are so much better with that level of support. “
Teams will now be playing for a range of things, including a spot in the Leisure Leagues Prize Draw – which is incorporated into the Leisure Leagues Live TV Show, which is broadcast on social media on the first Tuesday of every month.
That is for the future though, next week is all about league points as North of Larne take on El Nachos, while bottom side AFC Winebar will be looking to get off the mark against Barcalarna
