The brand-new season in the best community 6 a side football league in Omagh kicked off last night, and it was FC Pakistan who put down an early marker.
They beat Bean 5-0 in perhaps the game of the night, but Fake Madrid gave their audition to be the real thing, with Matty Mallon bagging a brace in their 3-0 cruise against Kool Kids.
Lads Of The Caribbean had Daniel Weir amongst the first day goals as they beat DPRF by two goals to nil.
Elsewhere Dreamkillers and FC Goal Diggers cancelled each other out with a 1-1 draw, with Jakub Krawcyzk notching the equaliser.
Area Manager Shakiel Barrett admitted he was delighted with the kick off and added: “It’s great to see these teams in the Leisure Leagues family, and this is just the start. This league will going from strength to strength in the coming weeks.”
Shakiel added that he was expecting to add another new division soon and thanked everyone at Inver Park for their help: “We view it very much as a partnership,” said Shakiel. “That’s very much been the case here and things are so much better with that level of support,” he said.
Teams will now be playing for a range of things, including a spot in the Leisure Leagues Prize Draw – which is incorporated into the Leisure Leagues Live TV Show, which is broadcast on social media on the first Tuesday of every month.
That is for the future though, next week is all about league points as Pakistan take on Dreamkillers and bottom side Bean will face Lords Of The Caribbean as they look to get off the mark.
