FC Rec were presented with their winners’ trophies this weekend, and are well on course to make it a double in the Perth 6-a-side League.
The team (some of whom are pictured above) could be claiming a second title in a couple of months, after a convincing victory at the weekend. The team currently sits third in the table, just a point behind leaders, The Muggins, who also won their game. Los Lecky were the big victors this week, seeing off Perth Select 7-1, while the game of the day was a real ding-dong thriller as PP FC edged out Pentland FC by the odd goal in nine.
Greg Allen, Area Manager for Leisure Leagues, is delighted with the success of FC Rec. “FC Rec is a great example of how the Leisure Leagues 6-a-side league can help teams improve and achieve their goals,” said Allen. “The team has worked hard and they deserve to be where they are. I’m sure they’ll be challenging for the title until the end of the season.”
The Perth league, based at McDiarmid Park, the home of St Johnstone, has been a real success since its kick-off last Autumn, with Allen adding: “We’re really pleased with the way the league has taken off in Perth,” said Allen. “We’ve had a lot of new teams sign up, and we’re expecting even more in the coming weeks. The league is a great way to get fit and have fun, and it’s a great way to meet new people.”
Entry to the Leisure Leagues 6-a-side league is free, and the league continues over the summer, even though the SPL has finished.
