The excitement of yesterdays penalty drama in Russia was no match for the joy which swept the nation earlier in the day as the Leisure Leagues Prize draw took place at Head Office.
Prizes galore, the usual array of games, and Phil and John’s latest challenge, were all the highlights of the action – and that is before we got down to drawing the balls!
First up, in the pre-recorded draw for bottom of the league teams and MVP’s, and that one saw Haydn Brown from our Altrincham Thursday league emerge as the lucky victor, who scooped a Nike Ball for his sterling efforts.
Then came the draw for the teams who were bottom of the league sides, and Sparks FC were picked out – they could have won anything from a signed Saturdays annual to the star prize of £50, but the fickle finger of fate landed on a pair of socks…which is nice….
But the main fun was reserved for the big draw at 1pm, with the runners up Woodworks from Weston Sunday getting picked out and walking away with the top award of a Playstation 4.
After all that it was over to John and Phil, our resident challenge participants, who this month had to see who could drink the most coke with some Mentos in their mouth. It was a close call, so VAR was needed, but our resident refs were on hand to adjudicate.
Then it was time for the main draw, where the top prize of a £12,000 holiday to Germany us still up for grabs. The winning team were Lets Hear It For The Moyes in the Dagenham league and – somewhat topically – the wheel landed on some Score Draw replica England shirts. Their delighted captain spoke to us live and they’ll be suitably kitted out for the World Cup Final a week on Sunday (it’s coming home, you know…..)
In addition, there were spot giveaways for the thousands that watched the draw live, with two audience members taking home shirts just for logging on and making a guess!
The next draw will happen on 7th August – and remember everyone could win!
