The season in the Tuesday Reading 5 a side league has reached its halfway point, but the games that took place last night proved beyond all doubt that what is in store for the second half of the campaign could be incredible.
The A Team are ready to go toe- to-toe with anyone it seems, with a five star record of five wins from five games. They won the league last term, and their defence is going well this time too. They have averaged seven goals a game so far this season. They didn’t quite manage that this time, but 6-3 was enough for them to overcome Boom Xhakalaka.
There is quite the race to join them as it is nip and tuck at the top of Division one. One team has gone through the first five games without dropping a point. Forest, who proudly fly the Welsh Flag next to their team name, might have ten points but they were made to work for the win this week.
The odd goal in five was just about enough to see off The Cleveland Steamers, but still not enough to shake off the challenge of Reading Huns.
They sit second after an utterly stunning 10-2 thumping of Can’t Fit My Willian, while Ivory Toast picked up a first win of the season, and did so in fine style –seeing off Reject Athletic 9-3.
The season is scheduled to end on 28th January, but with five games left to go, there is sure to be twists and turns aplenty.

There is one more week to go before the Christmas break, but teams that want to join the competition and be in with a chance of winning the star prize of the trip to Germany that another team from the area – Class Of 09 (pictured above), who play in our Sunday league – did, can do so here.
