Back to BlogWith our new state-of-the-art 4G pitch now in the process of being laid, Macclesfield FC are thrilled to welcome Leisure Leagues to the Club as the world’s largest provider of community sport.Commencing early next year, leagues will be held on a Sunday evening and Area Manager Adam Glover was keen to stress how the their ethos perfectly replicates that of the new Silkmen Board –“We had read new owner Robert Smethurst’s comments about making the Club a real heartbeat of the community and that mirrors us.“For more than 30 years we have been providing small-sided football to people across the world – people that maybe have not played regularly for years, but who are given the chance to play in their own Cup Final every week.“We are aware of how important grassroots sport is to Robbie Savage in particular and we can’t wait to get going in terms of making a real difference to community sport within Macclesfield.”All standards are welcomed, with the best players given the opportunity to represent their country in a 6-a-side World CupAs Adam explains –“We are fortunate to have the licence to operate the Home Nations teams and within this is the opportunity to participate in a 6-a-side World Cup.‘This really does capture the imagination for many players and allows people the chance to live their dreams.”In addition to this, Leisure Leagues are backed by the strongest discipline within small-sided football – with former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg as their Referees Ambassador.Since forming in the Midlands during the 1980’s, Leisure Leagues have now expanded into ten countries and have over one million players worldwide.Macclesfield FC Director of Football, Robbie Savage stated –“We are delighted to welcome Leisure Leagues to the Leasing.com Stadium.“In doing so, we are looking forward to welcoming a whole host of teams to Macclesfield FC and can’t wait for the action to begin early next year.”To join the leagues in Macclesfield click here:https://www.leisureleagues.net/league/macclesfield-football-club/macclesfield-sunday
