It was an emotional day on day two of the ISF World Cup – and Ukraine delivered a performance to match the occasion.
Players from the war-torn country won their first match in the world cup 2022 with an 11-1 thumping of Tunisia. Yevhenii crashed in a hat-trick.
On any other day, France getting one of the biggest scores in the history of world cup games would have created the headlines, but even they would surely agree that their 21-0 crushing of India might have to take second spot.
Greece were the other big winners of the day. Lefkaritis, Mourtzakis and Fouskas bagged a brace each in their 9-3 defeat of Spain.
Games were tighter elsewhere but there was drama everywhere you looked. Latvia caused a shock by beating Germany by the odd goal in three – N. Bulvītis scoring from inside his own half to effectively seal the win and give a real goal of the tournament contender.
Leisure Leagues players faced off as Mexico beat Ireland 3-2. Irish stalwart Damian Raggett scored one of sides goals, but it wasn’t enough and the odd goal in five saw Mexico home.
England took on Argentina and needed two late goals to see off the South Americans 3-2 – Argentina had taken the lead after going town to five men and Scotland had a real ding-dong clash with Mauritius. Seven goals were shared but Scotland took the points in the end.
There is another full programme of games today, right up until midnight local time, and you can watch them all here:
